PTING Lifting: What to Know If You're New to It
PTING is a needle-free lifting device that delivers microwave heat to the dermis. Learn how it works, who it suits, and what results to expect.

PTING is a lifting device that delivers heat to the deeper layers of the skin without any incisions. This guide covers what the treatment involves, who it may suit, and what results you can realistically expect, written for readers who are seeing it for the first time.

Which lifting method is right for you will be decided together during your consultation, after your skin condition has been checked. The image above is an informational graphic created by Seorae Plastic Surgery, not a photo of a patient.
What Is PTING Lifting?
It is a treatment in which a handpiece is glided over the skin, with no incisions and no needles.
The energy used is microwave. It is a type of radio wave that is absorbed by tissue and generates heat deep within it. According to manufacturer data, it operates at 2.45 GHz, and it is a medical device certified by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) of Korea.

The two units hung on the stand are handpieces that you switch between depending on the treatment area. This is a product image provided by the manufacturer.
What Can Change?
Skin is made up of layers. From the surface down, there is the epidermis, then the dermis, and below that, the fat layer. The layer that matters most for lifting is the second one, the dermis.
The dermis is where collagen is produced. Collagen is a mesh-like protein that supports the skin from within. When this mesh loosens, the skin loses firmness and its contours begin to blur.
For this reason, lifting devices aim to deliver heat not just to the surface but down to the dermis. However, the way each device transmits that heat differs.
Energy used | Layer reached by heat | |
Ultrasound / Radiofrequency | Ultrasound or radiofrequency | Dermis |
PTING | Microwave | Dermis + the fat layer beneath it |
Differences in How Heat Is Delivered
Neither method is better than the other. The right choice depends on skin thickness and the degree of sagging.
When heat reaches the dermis, the cells that produce collagen are stimulated. Three changes can be expected:
· Firmness — loosened skin tightens from within
· Contour — the jawline becomes more defined and the double-chin area looks tidier
· Longevity — encourages collagen to keep forming after the treatment
Collagen takes time to build, so changes tend to appear gradually rather than right after treatment. How much change you see varies from person to person, and results are not guaranteed.
Advantages of This Method
· No incisions and no needles — the handpiece is simply glided across the skin.
· Cooling function on the contact surface — protects the epidermis and helps reduce discomfort during treatment. It is switched on only when needed.
· Short treatment time — the manufacturer's data gives about 10 minutes. Actual time depends on the area and extent of treatment.
· Handpieces matched to the area — available in a large and a small size (45 mm and 25 mm in diameter).
Who It May Suit
· Those whose facial firmness is declining and whose jawline has started to blur
· Those who prefer a non-invasive option because incisions or needles make them uneasy
· Those who cannot easily set aside a long recovery period
Meeting these criteria does not automatically make you a candidate. Eligibility depends on your skin and tissue condition.
When sagging is pronounced, this method alone may not solve the problem. In such cases, surgical options may come first, so we check this point at the outset of your consultation. This is also not a one-time treatment, so the number of sessions and the interval between them are decided based on your condition.
You may feel warmth during the treatment. If discomfort continues afterward, please don't put up with it. Contact the clinic.

From consultation and treatment through to follow-up after the procedure, the director personally handles every step. This is an informational image created by the clinic.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. It uses radio waves. Is it harmful to the body?
PTING is a medical device that has received manufacturing certification from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. The handpiece has a cooling function that protects the epidermis and is used as needed. However, whether it is suitable depends on your physical condition and the treatment area, so this will be checked first during your consultation.
Q. I've already had ultrasound or radiofrequency lifting. Can I still have this treatment?
Whether it can be combined with other treatments, and the interval needed, both depend on which treatment you had last and when. Let us know what you received and when, and we will decide the plan together during your consultation.
Q. Can I resume my daily routine right after treatment?
This method involves no incisions or needles. However, recovery varies from person to person, so if you have an important event coming up, please let us know in advance and choose a date together with us.
